The Last Lecture…

If you haven’t seen this video yet, you should. I don’t doubt other people at this station or other stations have posted this, but if you haven’t seen it, you need to. This is the final lecture from Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch. He was a pioneer in Virtual Reality. Dr. Pausch died on July 25th of this year from what my mother died from on December 19th of 2007, Pancreatic Cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer death in the USA. The Average life expectency is 6 months. Most people don’t make it that long. There is no cure, and it kills 99% of those who get it. There is no early detection tests, no screening methods, no warning signs, and it receives virtually no funding. You may not have known someone to have it, but chances are you will. We talk a lot about Breast, Prostate, Colon, Lung, and various other cancers but very little about this one, which to this day we aren’t 100% sure what causes it. I’m not trying to take away the significance of any cancer by saying that: there is no such thing as a non-serious cancer. This form, however, has been ignored far too long. It is time to raise awareness and work toward at least an early detection method to give people some chance rather than virtually zero chance.YOu can get more information by CLICKING HERE…

Regardless of the Pancreatic Cancer plug, this video, which has NOTHING TO DO WITH CANCER, is one of the most inspirational things I’ve ever watched. It is long, but worth it.
