Olympics Begin… and some other stuff…
Saturday, August 9th, 2008
So I was watching the opening ceremonies to the Olympics last night while I was waiting for a table at The Garland House. I was really impressed! Just a stunning display of color, coordination, and beauty. Not surprising: after all, all the cool things we own are made in China! While it was gorgeous, it was also very intimidating. Here’s a culture that’s what? 2500 years old? They have SOOO much history, so many traditions, and a whole lot of discipline. They are literally America’s polar opposite. I’m so happy we DON’T live in that type of culture and have the freedoms we have. Everything about that ceremony just shrieked dominance and power, which I’m sure we do our fair share of too… it’s humbling to see it from someone else though. It felt like they weren’t really gearing up for the Olympic games, but rather World War 3… scary.
Less than 24 hours in though we had our first tragedy. Our volleyball coach’s in-laws we stabbed, one dieing, while visiting a tourist site. You can read the story HERE…
- Remember Brian Robinson? Of course you do! He’s of course on our sister station WCMF now and doing a spectacular job. It’s his Birthday, so I am going down to Spender’s to celebrate tonight (Saturday). I miss the B-Rob on the Buzz, though Dem Jones has rocked the afternoon drive (and the ratings prove it).
- Kimberly and Beck are back Monday! Have a great weekend!!!
-Late Breaking news… Comedian Bernie Mac Died. Don’t know much about it other then he had Pneumonia. I think we forget too often how serious Pneumonia can be. Seriously, if you’re sick, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR before it turns into something like that. In any event, myheart goes out to his family, friends, and many fans… here’s a clip…
WARNING: BAD LANGUAGE…
