2 Years
Thursday, November 13th, 2008It’s amazing for me to sit here and say I’ve been on the air at the Buzz for 2 years as of today.
Wow.
I remember before I got this job I was hopelessly working in a data processing department for a health insurance company in Buffalo. All I could think back then was, “I’m never going to get into radio.”
I had a degree in radio production from Fredonia, a decent amount of experience through my college station and internships, and a wealth of real life experience rolling up my sleeves and doing dirty jobs. I did everything from sit in a cubicle to clean toilettes (and everything in between). If I will ever pat myself on the back for anything, it’s that I’ve had 11 jobs in my almost 27 years on Earth. I’ve been laid off once, but never fired. I’ve been (in no order) a cashier, prep cook, chef’s assistant, pizza maker, pizza delivery dude, dishwasher, ice cream server, Griller, landscaper, farmer/greenhouse worker, data processor, boat harbor laborer, janitor, Dock Master (manager) of a boat harbor, Party Tent laborer, telemarketer, and of course, a radio producer.
It safe to say that I take offense when people say I am a “gimme” child of a “lazy” generation. Kiss my rear end!
All the crappy and interesting things I’ve done have gotten me to this point, and I couldn’t be happier. Kimberly and Beck are not easy people as many of you can imagine, but they have become like family to me. It’s a pleasure to work here, and work with them.
One more thanks… thank you. Rochester has made me feel at home and I appreciate every one of you, whether you like me or not ![]()
